In the world that is increasingly interconnected, the success in socializing depends on effective cross cultural communication. In order to work and socialize effectively people should understand how cultural backgrounds of communication partners vary.
The recent trend in teaching English in a comprehensive secondary school is to acquire a communicative competence which includes listening, writing, reading and speaking. Though the stress in the modern teaching methods is on the Communicative Approach, nevertheless, speaking skill acquisition is rather time consuming and is often neglected. To cover a significant amount of information over a short period of time stands in priority. And pupils don’t have enough time to get emotionally involved into the process of learning. The result is that the learners master the forms and vocabulary used at the lessons, but when they have to express themselves they are unable to use it fluently.
The question arises: How can school system be developed to deal with the lack of cultural awareness and practice of communicative skills
