To achieve the aim it is important to analyse two Russian magazines to find out if there are any slang words borrowed from English. Additionally, four dictionaries of English slang have been chosen as a theoretical base.
According to the definition, given by modern Russian researcher V. A. Maslova: «language is both an instrument of creation, development, storage (in the frames of the text) of culture, and it is an inherited part of it, because the language means creation of a real, objectively existing discourses of material and spiritual culture» [22, p. Moreover, the definition leaves beyond attention the differences between semantical structure of the concept in the different languages, including French and English.
The methods of investigations used in this bachelor’s paper are descriptive method, the method of classification, comparative method, the method of component analysis and sampling and the statistical method.
The Internet has been used as source of emperical objects used in the term paper to be analysed. To study substantivization in the English language, Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA) and BYU-BNC: British National Corpus were used to provide actual material and shortly study the main concept.
The data will be useful in working out courses in Practical and Theoretical Phonetics for Russian students to improve their English pronunciation. Also it may be of use for a wide circle of interested people.
analyzing specificity of idiomatic fixed phrases English referring to such a concept as “cunning” taking into consideration their form, structure, semantics as well as the problem of their adequate interpretation into Russian.
The article below examines advantages and disadvantages of English and Russian higher school design of an interior and space within an international educational area. English and Russian higher school’s competitive advantages and barriers are also discussed.
