Educational programs Birthright created to bring together and socializing young people who do not live in Israel, in addition, it is an opportunity to get acquainted with the homeland of their ancestors and traditions. As part of the Birthright Jew is a person who has Jewish roots within the third degree: mom, dad, grandparent.
On the cultural and educational project "Birthright", probably everyone has heard. This is a great opportunity to visit Israel and meet closer with its culture, people and nature. For 10 days, participants of the program receive a sea of emotions and positive — it is necessary to apply.
"Birthright" owes its existence to two Jewish philanthropists Charles Bronfman and Michael Steinhardt, who created the project in 1999. Subsequently, the idea of the program has attracted the attention of various partners who are its sponsors — individuals and family foundations, the Jewish community, the Government of Israel. The idea consists in introducing young Jews living around the world to the Jewish history and heritage.
During the existence of its participants in the program were about 400 thousand young Jews from 66 countries. They all had different religious past and the different experiences of the world of travel. After the trip they gained new knowledge, to experience the country and the Jewish people.
The program can take part young men and women aged 18 to 26 years inclusive, who have completed secondary education. It should be noted that persons who turn 27 years after the start of the season, also have the right to participate in the program. Participants can be only those who are considered Jewish according to Jewish law, or has Jewish roots (according to the Law of Return, the documents tested in the Israeli consulate).
To participate in the program are not allowed explicit followers of other religions.
Participants' Taglita "can become young men and women who lived in Israel before, if they are: left the country before the age of 12; visited the country for educational purposes for a period of up to 3 months up to 18 years and did not serve in the Israeli army or has not been a volunteer at the army base.
If, during the school years you participated in the March of the Living, you can be a candidate to participate in the project after the execution of 22 years. Persons who leave before the execution of 12 years, born in Israel, who have Israeli citizenship or a passport, should be exempted from military service in the Israeli army (the document issued at the consulate).
Today, the right to conduct visits to Israel have 6 accredited organizations and institutions:
• youth organization Hillel;
• The Zionist youth movement Ezra;
• Company Tlalim;
• The Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI);
• Company Israel-Experts;
• Company Sachlav.
For registration need to fill the application form and make a mandatory deposit (50-250 US dollars).
The program of each of the organizers of the trips is inconsequential differences, and start and end dates of the seasons (summer and winter) are installed by themselves.
