The subject of my work is grammatical categories of English verbs. The aim of the work is to examine grammatical layer of English language, connected with verbs to explain the meaning of its grammatical categories – tense, development, time coordination (retrospective coordination), categories of the mood and voice.
Put in the correct tense (Present Continuous or Present Simple).
Babies always learn to speak the language of their parents. She doesn’t understand my words but my voice and actions make the meaning clear.
I. ГрамматикаЗадание
1. Образуйте письменно множественное число данных существительных:A family — families, a tax — taxes, a woman — women, a team — teams, a tooth — teeth, а telephone — telephones, a friend — friends, a manager — managers, a laborato ry — laboratories, a foot — feet, а businessman — businessmen, a wife — wives, a city — cities, a fax — faxes, a shelf — shelves, a German — Germans, а child — children, a deer — deer, a tomato — tomatoes, a day — days, a datum — data, a photo — photos.
Of course, the meaning of a given word or affix may remain stable for very long periods, and (Proto-Indo-European etyma of NE sir, fill, udder, foot, wheel, ted, name, egg and mouse had pretty much the same meanings seven thousand years ago as their present-day English reflexes (if one disregards a host of added meanings, like red «Communist»).
But these semantic Methuselah are in fact the exception: words usually do not retain meanings unaltered for any length of time, so in historical and comparative linguistics some understanding of the nature of semantic change is vital for dealing with the routinely divergent semantics of cognate forms.
Данная работа может быть использована как исходный материал для дальнейших исследований по изложенным в ней проблемам, т.к. вопросы, касающиеся форм глагола и многократности действий в современном английском языке, освещаются не всеми авторами учебников и учебных пособий по грамматике современного английского языка.
