Introduction
Nowadays in the age of globalization, there is an increasing necessity for full understanding of impotency of intercultural contacts which are the result of global marketing. Business communication is one of the most significant components of every successful business as a device of interacting two or more persons, companies, organizations and so forth. The need of adequate communication between both sides results in the existence of style of business communication. It is a well-known fact that globalization makes the English language lead in case of intercultural communication; therefore, lots of correspondence is written in English as well as business meetings has the same unique business-language. If a person does not know foundation, features and corresponding characteristic properties of business English, he or she is unable to lead a communication with an opponent and cannot be a business-partner. Consequently, we can speak about the importance of knowledge of business letters style as one of the way to successful business.
As the influence of the Internet increases, business correspondence is becoming more and more dependent on it, for example, lots of files are sent via the Internet every day. However, even if we do not take it into account the importance of business communication via the Internet, we should still remember about printed business documentation and correspondence which provides the necessity of in-depth study of formal English This is especially important in business letters where a negligible error can lead to a miserable failure. In other words, it is significant to know the right formula for communicating and creating a business letter which is stylistically correct in English and sometimes is worth more than all the planes, equipment and business skills one can demonstrate.
Considering that, the goal of the term paper is to study the style of the business letter as a part of formal English.
To attain the target, we set the following objectives:
1) to discuss performance of the business letter;
2) to examine functional, structural and stylistic peculiarities of the business letter;
3) to look into different types of the business letter;
4) to analise specific types of the business letter.
The object of the term paper is the formal style of business English and the subject is the business letter.
It is the top priority of this research to analyse the business letter as a linguistic phenomenon. As a result, to attain the target, we have studied a row of the available sources concerning the theoretical aspects of this question. All the examples in the practical part of the term paper were taken from the textbook “Деловая переписка на английском” translated by N.A. Ganina. The references of the visual materials used in Appendices I and II can be found under the pictures.
My term paper consists of Introduction, two Chapters, Conclusion and Bibliography and two Appendices.
