The purpose of the logistics process formulated the basic rule of logistics — the rule « 7R»: the right product (right product) required quality (right quality) in the required number (right quantity) to be delivered at the right time (right time) and in the right place (right place) customer needs (right customer) with the required cost (right cost).
Failure of even one of the above conditions can lead to loss of customers and, accordingly, a certain share of the market.
Терминология как и само понятие логистика уже давно находится в поле зрения ученых. Как и большинство иных научных терминов данное слово является греческим по происхождению. И это не удивительно, ведь еще в древнейших Афинах, где с помощью жребия, выбирался на должность “логистик”. Прямыми обязанностями его являлся контроль за предоставляемыми отчетами высокопоставленных лиц и чиновников. Помимо этого, еще одни функции присуще данной должности, но уже в Древнем Риме, где он исполнял разного рода административные и в некоторых ситуациях религиозные задачи. В Византии же (866-912 гг.) со времен правления императора Льва VI логистику трактовали как способность грамотного и обоснованного снабжения, а так же управления движением армии.
2) A hundred years ago the traditional type of shops were small shops owned and run by one or two men and their families, full of lovely old cheeses, bacon and large bags of flour. The small corner shop still exists today, but it is no longer the most important type of shop. Shops have become bigger (and less personal).
In the high street we now find self-service supermarkets and chain stores; away from the town centers, even many corner shops are “multiples” – that is, they belong to a large group of shops although they still have the old owner’s name over the door. Outside the town itself, there are hypermarkets with their large car-parks. They sell everything and their prices are often lower because they do not have to pay the high rents of the high street shops.
Logistics has come to be recognized as a distinct function with the rise of mass production systems. Production and distribution were earlier viewed as a sequential chain of extremely specialized activities. The role of logistics is to ensure availability of all the required materials before every step in this chain. Obviously inventory of raw materials, semi-finished and finished goods is a must across this chain to ensure its smooth functioning.
